Manufacturing Boom Busts U.S. Labor Pool: METALfx Announces Hiring Fair
Shortages of qualified workers are increasingly straining U.S. manufacturers’ ability to keep up with pent-up demand and a re-emerging economy. METALfx, a North Bay-based manufacturer based in Willits, is a good example of this. “We have been hiring steadily since pandemic restrictions loosened up,” shared BJ Gutierrez, Director of Human Resources. “And it is still not enough,” she added, “we have open positions on every shift”.
Henry Moss, President, explained how COVID-19 has further impacted METALfx. “We have several customers who are ramping rapidly as they fight COVID on the front line. To stay on pace with their requirements we have to grow.”
In response to this critical need, METALfx has announced a Hiring Fair to be held on August 16 from 11am to 2pm at METALfx’s facility at 200 N. Lenore Avenue in Willits. Department managers will be on hand and available to interview qualified applicants. “Our associates are our biggest asset,” stated Henry. “Our needs are not only in the shop. We have several front office positions such as inside sales, estimators, and engineering.”
“We will be placing a large ad in the Willits Weekly,” said BJ. “Keep your eye out for it!”
